Eric Gill Meets The Bijlmer

During his residence in BijlmAIR and Open Ateliers Zuidoost AIR, R’m brought with him into the Bijlmer the English artist Eric Gill. During his stay he invited residents and visitors of Bijlmer into his studio to ‘meet’ Gill and to explore his philosophy.

Visitors were surprised to learn about the disturbing life of Gill, but they were also glad to hear his witty messages about the mechanism of isolation operating both in our society as well as in the arts.

Using quotations of Gill, R’m and the studio visitors created banners and soon took them outside to promote them in the area.

The drawings and banners in this exhibition are residues of the activities that took place here from August - October 2015.
